Getting the call that your role in the company has been eliminated is gutting. Even if you saw the signs, the proverbial writing on the wall, it still sucks.
I had only called Vendasta home for a short while, but in that time, I had been welcomed into a team of incredibly talented individuals. What was really hard, though, was leaving behind my MatchCraft family.
I first became acquainted with MatchCraft around 2009 when the agency I was with partnered with them to use their AdTech to power our local search campaigns. Over the course of 15 years, my path wound in and around but always remained MatchCraft adjacent. It is 100% accurate that the people you work with make all the difference. Over the course of my tenure with the team, I was pushed to grow bothe personally and professionally, and I traveled to some pretty awesome places.
I am infinitely proud of the work we accomplished together. Product releases, quarterly business reviews, awards and conferences. Three things stand out as especially proud moments:
– Our response to Covid. Making the shift to 100% remote in a matter of days and helping our partners pivot to address the shifting demands of their advertisers.
– Launching our Connect product. The product team turned the platform on its side and completely re tooled how it interacts with advertising networks like Google Ads and Microsoft Ads. The result is a platform that is more agile than we had been throughout our 25+ year history.
– Winning Microsoft Advertising’s Global Rising Star! I was so pumped to receive this recognition from such an industry Titan.
An end to one thing signals the beginning of another, and I’m using the downtime to check a few things off my list and spend the summer with my kids. Until I figure out what’s next, you’ll find me listening to a good book while tackling another DIY project or hanging out on our dock.
